Symposium
The Cascade Sustainable Aviation Technology Symposium invites leaders from academia, government, and industry to explore viable pathways for reducing aviation emissions.

What does the symposium address?
Four critical areas in aviation decarbonization that need progress. Top experts from academia, government, and industry come together to identify where breakthroughs are needed and where to focus research and investment.
The next Cascade Sustainable Aviation Technology Symposium will take place in early November and will focus on these four themes:

SAF cost reduction

Carbon removal landscape

Cryogenic fuels

Air Traffic Management (ATC) modernization
What is the format of the symposium?
This year’s event will be hosted at Boeing’s offices in Arlington, Virginia. Proceedings will blend short talks with collaborative workshops where leaders share expertise and develop tangible steps to address emissions.

Looking back on last year
The 2025 event marked the symposium’s inaugural year.
For the first time, over 100 leaders from academia, government, industry, airlines, airports, universities, and the energy sector united to trade ideas and break new ground.
Read last year’s slides to learn more about the key challenges attendees discussed and the pathways forward they found.
