- Regions and countries have different paths to decarbonizing aviation based on geography, policy, maturity, and local resources. You can explore pathways relevant to a country or region by filtering in the Cascade Climate Impact Model.

Breaking down how the world is connected
Use the filter to select a region or country and explore a subset of traffic most relevant to you- One-third of flights—responsible for about 65% of emissions—are international routes connecting different countries. Because these flights fall under the jurisdiction of ICAO, reducing their emissions will require international coordination. The remaining two-thirds of flights, producing about 35% of emissions, occur on domestic routes and are the responsibility of national governments.
- Nearly two-thirds of flights, and the associated emissions, are departing from North America, Europe, and China. However, the balance of traffic in the future will shift as developing markets such as Southeast Asia and the Middle East expect higher-than-average growth over the next two decades. [1]
